Description

Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disorder in the U.S. Consequently, teachers are likely to come into contact with children diagnosed with ASD. Early treatment can improve symptoms and allow youth with ASD to reach their full potential. This is why early identification is so important.

The objectives of this training are to: 1) explain why autism is a spectrum disorder, as opposed to a single diagnosis; 2) illustrate how it’s useful to classify traits into different categories; 3) go over guidelines helpful in discussing a possible developmental delay with parents; 4) demonstrate strategies for teachers and others caring for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
