Description

We will present the common experiences of children growing up in poverty, exploring the impact of these experiences on social-emotional and cognitive functioning. We will focus on the 3 areas of "Executive Function" in light of the impacts of these experiences. We will discuss, demonstrate and facilitate activities that can be integrated into classroom practice to build executive function skills.

1. Recognize the need for executive function skills in 3 areas
2. Empathize with challenges that come with extra needs in these areas
3. Exercise intentionality in choosing activities for the classroom that target and enhance these skills
4. Successfully execute the facilitation of these "games" and activities with the children and families they work with
5. Partner with parents in assisting them to recognize these needs and encourage them to participate in parent programs at their school to assist their children in building these skills
